What is collected

• A browser cookie. On your first visit, this site stores a random, signed identifier in a first-party cookie (xpoll_voter). The database only stores a keyed hash of it, which is used to stop the same browser from voting twice. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.
• A network identifier. Your IP address is never stored. The site stores a keyed hash (HMAC) of your network address, reduced to the /64 prefix for IPv6. It is used only to rate-limit abuse and review suspicious bursts.
• Your ballot. The engines you selected and when you voted.
• Optional answers. If you answer the optional questions (chip, unified memory), they are stored with your ballot. They are published only as totals, and a breakdown of picks for an answer is shown only once at least 5 ballots share it.
• Suggestions. The name, URL and notes you submit through the suggestion form. Suggestions are never published.
• Bot check. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that submissions come from a person. Cloudflare processes data according to its own privacy policy.

What is published

Only aggregate results: the number of ballots and how many selected each engine. No individual ballots are ever published or exported.

Retention

Voter and network identifiers are deleted 30 days after the poll closes, and so are backups and logs containing them. Aggregate results are kept.

Limits

This is a low-stakes community survey, not an election. Clearing cookies or switching browsers makes it possible to vote again. The bot check and rate limits reduce abuse but cannot prevent it completely.

For questions or deletion requests, contact @ivanfioravanti on X. Ballots are not linked to names or accounts, so the organizer cannot look up who cast a particular ballot.
